Artists are drawn to the same subjects…

When I lived in San Diego and was a member of The San Diego Art Institute, I entered this photo into one of their monthly shows.
Boulders have always been one of my favorite subjects. San Diego County has a plethora of granite boulders. This one seems very out of place.
I found the letter she wrote to me today when I was out in my studio… I will try and find the slide she sent to me with the letter.

I experienced this when I was filling in at the photo department at San Diego Gas & Electric. One of their photographers was on a two-week vacation, a photo trip around Southern California and the Arizona region. When he came back to work, he brought in the 35mm slides he took on his trip. He said that he really loved Bisbee. I asked if he had taken a photo of the fire hydrant. He got a funny look on his face and said that he had. Same hydrant!
I have revisited subjects over the years.
