I get odd ideas…

Words are tricky! English is an odd language; synonyms, antonyms, homophones, swear words…
Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night thinking of the strangest things, like Pears, for example. One day, several years ago, this happened, and I went to the store and selected the best-looking pears I could find.
Side Story: In San Diego, I worked for many years as a Commercial Photographer. I photographed people, products, food, you name it! I had a client who made fresh salsa, Chachies Salsa. You may have seen it at Costco or other grocery stores. I had a good budget, so I hired a food stylist. Food stylists are sometimes chefs or other food industry people who specialize in shopping for the best-looking food items and are highly skilled at making food look tasty. They make burgers look tasty, roasted turkey juicy, and place that lettuce leaf just right. We usually have to put warning signs on food in the staging area, warning people NOT to eat the food. That turkey leg looks good, but it is probably sprayed with something you don’t want to eat, or has been sitting out for hours. That scoop of vanilla ice cream, mashed potatoes…
The lady I hired did an amazing job. She mentioned that we were probably related; her grandfather was a Lunétta. Small world!
Back to my pears… I set the pears on an opaque plexiglass shooting table and placed one of my studio strobes under the table to try to avoid shadows (which almost worked). I added another light in a softbox to diffuse the light and shot several photos of the pears.
In Pages, Apple’s word/layout application, I created the layout above, exported it to a JPEG file, and that is the end result.

The image above was a bit of an inspiration for “Pear • Pair • Pare.” I have better knives today!
